UNARMED GUARD CLASS
8-hour of class room only training is required by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) to be licensed as an unarmed security guard in the State of Arizona. Once you complete the 8-hour training, you will have the basic knowledge required to qualify for an Arizona Unarmed Guard card. This will also satisfy the bi-yearly requirements for a renewal license. Check DPS' guard requirements.
ARMED GUARD CLASS
16-hours of class room and shooting range training is required by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) to be licensed as an unarmed security guard in the State of Arizona. This training course will provide you with the basics in firearm safety, marksmanship, maintenance and familiarization, as well as educate you on the legal issues related to the use of deadly physical force.
DEFENSIVE TACTICS
Defensive Tactics Course 1 & 2 is coming soon. Register for courses covering arrest procedures, pepper spray, impact weapons, tasers and handcuffing techniques. Class length and days will be announced soon. Check the calendar for upcoming class dates and times.

On-site responsibilities, building client relationships, public relations, respect and knowledge of the chain of command
- Proper knowledge of on-site emergency procedures.
- Proper acknowledgement of on-site authorities such as security directors and property managers.
- Proper response to crisis situations or events.
- Recognize supervisory authority.
- Minimum of eight (8) hours of mandatory class room training.

This 16-hour armed security guard lesson plan is a firearms safety course, designed to teach the novice armed security guard the basics of gun safety, marksmanship, maintenance and familiarization, as well as legal issues related to the use of deadly physical force.
This training is also intended to provide training on issues likely to be encountered by armed security guards while on duty.
This 16-hour Armed Security Guard Class includes all Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) required curriculum, including all paperwork to submit to DPS, fingerprint card, access to firing range, and photographs. We also provide an envelope addressed to DPS making the process as convenient and easy as possible.
